Lifan - After volunteering for Silverman for the last four years – the last two as organizer of the massage tent, I have decided to take the plunge and make a commitment toward participating in the Half Silverman for 2010. At first glance, even the half appears like quite an impossible distance: 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 mile run on “the most grueling triathlon course in North America.” So, why do it? Because the human spirit is undeniable.
From time to time, I have a burning desire to push myself beyond my perceived limits: physically, mentally, spiritually. I’ve toyed with entering this event for the past several years, knowing logically that the course is completely do-able. This year, I’m showing my commitment by announcing it to the world; I am documenting my part of the journey here on this blog and hope that some of you out there will join me in pushing beyond our limits. This blog is for those people who find the idea intriguing and inspiring, but perhaps are a little daunted or scared. Of course it’s scary. Of course it will be a challenge. Yes, we will be sore. Yes, we will hurt and curse our decision from time to time, but in the end we will persevere and triumph. It’s just a simple fact. Are you ready to see what you are truly capable of? I am! Join me as an aspiring triathlete, a collaborator or a supporter.
