Last week was a dreary week in Las Vegas – cloudy, gloomy and occasionally rainy. In Vegas, I consider this a refreshing change to our consistently sunny days. This weekend, I discovered even more reason to cheer on the rain here in town. When it rains in Vegas, it’s likely to snow on Mt. Charleston. When it snows, that’s a great time for snowshoeing!
I’m new to the sport of snowshoeing. Initially I was all at once excited and apprehensive. I didn’t know what to expect from snowshoeing and how hard, or easy, or complex, or simple this sport would be. This past weekend was my first outing and it was sensational! It turned out to be simple to learn, yet as physically challenging as you want to make it. Our group accomplished 4 total miles in fresh powder.
The wonderful thing about snowshoeing is that it opens up a whole new realm of possible workouts in outdoors and in the wintertime. Not only do you get to enjoy the winter beauty of the mountain, but it is an amazing leg workout. Who can ask for more? Just my style!
