The body is talking, but what is it really saying? I’m still feeling sore enough that sitting down or standing up requires a little counter-balance assistance; and I still grunt every time I step down a curb. Sure, we are all familiar with soreness from time to time – some days more extreme than others. J said, “It’s just your body’s way of telling you it doesn’t want to do it.” Sure, when I’m feeling sore, I don’t feel like going on, but there is a twisted sense of joy about teasing the soreness – seeing when it will abate. Maybe it’s really my body’s way of saying, “Wow! You’re finally using muscles for what they are meant to do! Keep going and I will show you what I can achieve for you! All this time, I’ve been yearning to run and jump and swim and play! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”
I’ve heard that the Silverman (and all endurance events) are mostly mental. It’s the talk that goes on in your head that can make the difference between giving up and moving forward. Attitude is everything. What are you programming into your mind before, during and after your training?
